Hello! My names is Tanesha I’m an island girl living in a big city and a mother to one beautiful baby girl. I always wanted to become a midwife however, while finishing my degree I got pregnant and that experience gave me insight into the inner workings (and failings) of family planning, perinatal health, and childrearing support that women need. My journey was confirmation that I was on the path to my purpose but becoming a doula was more important at that time because as a women of color I realize how the medical system is unjust and how having a doula can positively affect your birthing experience. My goal as a birthworker is to nurture the autonomy and confidence of parents, and I firmly believe that every individual deserves to be seen, respected, and supported on their unique journey. This means that I center client advocacy and empowerment in my work by providing evidence-based education and individualized unbiased support throughout the perinatal experience. I am passionate about supporting growing families and approach my work with a balance of tenderness, passion, and a good sense of humor. When I’m not attending a birth or supporting postpartum families, I enjoy adventures and travel with my family, cooking, dancing, and anything that is art related or centered around self care.
